What is Aging in Place?
Aging in place refers to staying in one’s home versus moving into an assisted living home. Living at home where the environment is familiar and loved ones are near much more preferable than for most people, in fact a 2010 study done by AARP shows that 90% of people over the age of 65 want to stay in their residence as long as possible, and 80% believe their current residence is where they will always live.
Benefits of Aging at Home
It’s familiar to stay at home, where Seniors can be around their own surroundings and belongings. This helps them be comfortable and makes for a less stressful environment to live in. Seniors also like to be independent, doing many of the things they’ve always enjoyed doing.
